Pedestrian stuck and killed by Amtrak train in Oceanside
A person was hit and killed by an Amtrak train struck n in Oceanside Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies received the call shortly before 3 p.m. that someone had been struck on Cassidy Street, just past Broadway, where the street crosses the railroad tracks, Lt. Matthew Glisson said.
A southbound train was traveling approximately 50 to 60 mph when the train operator saw a male pedestrian standing on the tracks.
The train operator applied the emergency brakes but was not able to stop in time.
No further details about the pedestrian were immediately available.
