Kansas-based transportation company Yellow Corporation is closing its Green facility, but it said it plans to relocate the 107 employees there to other company facilities.

In a March 16 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice, vice president of human capital and talent acquisition Sarah Statlander said the company — which includes Yellow Corporation and subsidiaries Holland and YRC Enterprise Services — is consolidating its operations and permanently closing the Green facility, called Akron Terminal 208, at 3140 Massillon Road.

The facility is expected to close around May 28. Statlander said the company is actively working to transfer theemployees to different company facilities. The company is also working with union representatives from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which represents 90 employees at the facility.

"As a result, the Company does not anticipate that this notice is required, but it is issuing it in an abundance of caution and in a good faith effort to comply with any notice obligations it may have under state or federal law," Statlander wrote. "...[T]he Company hopes to continue employing substantially all of the affected employees at other Company facilities."

Statlander said it's not known how many employees will accept transfer positions. Employees who don't take transfer positions will lose their jobs when the facility closes.

The company is also closing its Cincinnati Terminal 331 facility at 10074 Princeton Glendale Road in West Chester Township in Ohio's Butler County, outside Cincinnati, around May 28, but Statlander said the company also plans to relocate the 150 employees there to different company facilities.

According to its online job search, Yellow currently has positions available in Copley, Richfield, Brooklyn, Columbus, Lima, North Lima and Cincinnati.
