Who are golf’s Grand Slam winners and who are close? Rory McIlroy a Masters win away from immortality

Golf’s Grand Slam remains the pinnacle of the game and one of the hardest feats to achieve in world sport.
Every golfer dreams of winning a major, but only a select few have won all four - The Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and The Open Championship.
A host of legendary names have tried and come close but the group of players to do it has remained unchanged for over two decades.
Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, who have won over 30 major titles between them, head up the illustrious list.
They are joined by Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen as the only men to claim all four championships.
Jack Nicklaus (18 major titles)
Tiger Woods (15 major titles)
Ben Hogan (9 major titles)
Gary Player (9 major titles)
Gene Sarazen (7 major titles)
There are currently 12 players who have captured three of the four majors but have failed to complete the Grand Slam.
The list is made up of some of the greatest names the sport has ever seen including Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead and Tom Watson.
There are three players still active on the list and all will hope to complete the Grand Slam before they retire.
Phil Mickelson has famously finished second at the US Open SIX times to miss out on competing the quadruple.
Rory McIlroy only needs the Green Jacket to complete a set of all four major titles and will hope the upcoming 2025 Masters tournament will finally be his year.
Jordan Spieth then needs to win at the PGA Championship to secure his Grand Slam.
Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele and Dustin Johnson are among the current active players who have completed half of the career Grand Slam.
