Kmart comes out with an $8 dupe of a divisive $1430 designer shoe

The '80s and '90s have called, and Kmart has answered.

Whether you loved them or loathed them, jelly shoes were all the rage in decades past. The fisherman sandal rose to popularity in the '80s and continued through the Y2k era.

Combine them with another '90s trend, the ballet flat, and you have a very interesting shoe.

That's exactly what Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen did when their designer brand The Row took the PVC trend to the next level and came out with a netted jelly sandal.

The label's 'Mara' shoe, which is a ballet flat style, was released as part of their Summer 2024 collection and can set you back around $US890 (approx.$1430).

But now, you can get the style for just $8.

Kmart has come out with a Jelly Ballet Shoe in two versions: a classic clear and a bright red shade.

The slip-on, which is made from PVC material, is a netted flat and is available to buy in Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

The red carpet fashion trend that is already taking over 2025

The retailer has been on top of the jelly shoe revival, bringing back the jelly sandal last yea fisherman sandal version, which came in different colours and also cost $8. 

As well as being on top of the latest trend revivals, Kmart has been known to come out with affordable dupes of popular fashion pieces.

The Aussie store released a dupe of the wildly popular 'Feminine Buckled Ballerinas' shoes from contemporary label Ganni.

While the slingback flats cost $595 from Ganni, Kmart's version retails for just $25. 

Kmart also came out with a dupe for Country Road's $179 Lottie Sandal.

The retailer's Triple Adjustable Sandals look just like the quilted shoe from Country Road, but cost just a fraction of the price for $20.
