SOUTHINGTON — The Southington Drive-In announced its schedule for the season, which begins May 31 and runs through Sept. 13.
The drive-in, located at 995 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, is one of only a handful remaining in the state. It is a community-owned and volunteer-operated venue. Each Saturday movie night is hosted by a different local nonprofit organization. At the end of the season, proceeds are distributed among the host nonprofits and civic organizations.
Each night, gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins approximately 30 minutes after sunset. People can listen to the movie by turning their car radios to 89.9 FM. Guests are welcomed to watch from their cars or lawn chairs.
Dawn Miceli, of the Southington Drive-In Committee, said previously the drive-in “features a nice mix of new releases and fan favorites of yesteryear for families to enjoy.”
Admission to the Southington Drive-In is $20 a carload or $5 each for walk-ins. Only cash will be accepted.
