Ghana’s Black Satellites will battle the Central African Republic in a decisive final Group C clash at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Satellites sit second with four points, and a draw could be enough to book a place in the knockout stages.
But with CAR needing a win to qualify, it sets the tone for a promising encounter.
It’s Ghana’s second meeting against Central African opposition in this tournament, having opened with a 1-1 draw against DR Congo.
Ghana’s last three games against Central African teams have all ended 1-1.
CAR, meanwhile, also drew 1-1 with Senegal, but their past struggles against West African teams remain a concern having lost lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso and 3-0 to Gambia in the 2021 edition.
Despite the advantage on paper, Ghana coach Desmond Ofei is urging his side not to underestimate their opponents.
“We can’t afford to be complacent against a hardworking side like CAR. They’ve shown they can hurt teams, so we must remain focused and composed,” he said.
